Nicole Ari Parker has worked in film, TV and also on stage. She was best known for her character Teri (the spirited lawyer) Joseph. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. Contractor, born in Mumbai in India, was raised in Nigeria through the age of seven. She'd been exposed to numerous travel experiences and different cultures at a very early age. She was educated in a boarding-school in London between the ages of 7 and 9. Then, the family relocated to London and moved to Toronto, Canada. Contractor studied and became an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She was a student at the Etobicoke School of the Arts which is a highly specialized public arts high school, where she was not just a dancer but also studied theater. Contractor started acting at the age of 16 and was a part of the theater for a decade after spending ten years of dance. After graduating high school, she was awarded a full grant to attend at the University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in the field of theatre, and a double major in psychology and sociology. Contractor was cast in her first show after a year of university. She received rave reviews for her performance in the 92 shows performed this play, which was named as the best production by Canadian critics in 2002. The actress accepted an invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory. It is a place that allows only four males and eight females can attend a 20 weeks crash program in classical theatre. Contractor received a guaranteed spot in the next season of shows and eventually landed the part of Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
